While we have our doubts about the marketing merits of companies selling handsets as "selfie" phones, it seems that it is a going trend. Microsoft will jump on that particular bandwagon with a new device that has been rumoured for some time but has now shown up for the first time in a leaked image.

Sony's set September 3rd IFA press event

Samsung and Huawei have already pencilled in their IFA events to launch new products and now Sony is on board too. The Japanese company has scheduled its press conference for the Berlin showcase for September 3rd, the same day Samsung is due to launch the Galaxy Note 4. Judging by Sony's invite card, it seems the company will be launching quite a few smartphone related products, including a new handset and peripherals.

Google's OS beat out Apple's iOS by 9% of the market, but while the platform is thriving, what do last quarter's results mean for manufacturers. Of course, Android and to an extend iOS are spread through multiple devices, so how are the OEM's fairing?

Android's hold on the smartphone market remains strong in the United States as Google's platform topped market share in the country over the last three months. However, Android's share of the platform market in the States did fall slightly, while nearest rival iOS recorded a slight jump in popularity.

The G3 Stylus is not LG's answer to the Galaxy Note 4

When the LG G3 Stylus was ousted last week, we speculated that it was unlikely to be a full blown competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the current king of the phablet market. Despite boasting the G3 flagship branding and packing a stylus, we figured that LG would steer its newest handset away from Samsung's juggernaut flagship and straight for the mid-range niche.
