Redbox Instant for Windows Phone appears as temporary Nokia exclusive

Redbox Instant, the TV and video streaming service launched by Redbox and Verizon earlier this year, is now available for Windows Phone 8 users. However, the movie rental and subscription service will work only with a Nokia Lumia until the general release of the app in 60 days. Unlike the Redbox app that launched in July, Redbox Instant includes movies that can be viewed on mobile devices at any time and shows inventory for local Redbox kiosks if someone wishes to rent a DVD or Blu-Ray. LG shoots down dumb rumor about it focusing less on smartphones

A Korean news report suggests that LG would decrease its mobile phone resources in order to focus more on its HD television sets. The speculation, sparked by ET news, made no sense, and LG has issued a statement saying the reports are "completely untrue."

US carriers agree to end premium SMS spam

AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have announced that they will cease charging subscribers for premium texting services, most of which are nothing more than spam that tricks users into paying highly monthly fees for unwanted messages.

T-Mobile Moto X Android 4.4 KitKat rollout now underway

Motorola has announced that the Android 4.4 KitKat update is making its way to T-Mobile subscribers. Following this week's announcement that Verizon had already begun its update process, T-Mobile has also started its staged rollout to deliver a new Hangouts app, a new Gallery, a better camera app, a new phone dialer, and more. T-Mobile customers can attempt to check for an update by going to Settings > About phone > Systems update.
