Apple fires executive in charge of Apple Maps application for iOS Posted: 27 Nov 2012 11:55 AM PST Apple has dismissed the manager in charge of its heavily criticized map appfor the iPhone and iPad, according to Bloomberg. Apple has yet to make an official announcement, but Bloomberg cites sources that say SVP Eddy Cue has fired Richard Williamson, who led the Apple Maps team under Scott Forstall, the former head of Apple iOS who is soon to depart the company. According to sources, Apple is working with map data provider TomTom to improve the accuracy of Apple Maps and will seek new management to ensure that the app becomes more capable of competing with Google Maps. The app can now launch a translator lens that takes a picture of a document or menu and then translates it into the user's native language.
