Microsoft to show Windows Mobile 7 at Mobile World Congress

Microsoft will show off Windows Mobile 7 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, The Wall Street Journal reports. The new user interface is rumored to look similar to the Microsoft Zune HD UI. Microsoft may also reveal its Project Pink device, which is expected to be manufactured by Sharp and targeted at a youth audience.

Skyfire acquires kolbysoft, plans Skyfire for Android

Skyfire announced that it has purchased kolbysoft, the company that develops the Steel browser for Android. Skyfire also plans to release a "Skyfire Android edition" browser in the future.

Marvell reveals new Pantheon platform for $99 smart phones

Marvell today announced its new platform for smartphones called Pantheon. Pantheon, which supports Android, Windows Mobile and "other leading operating systems," was designed to help drive the affordable and mass market $99 smartphone market. It's equipped with an 800MHz or faster ARM compliant processor, support for 720p video, DirectX, Open GL ES 2.0 compliant 3D graphics, as well as a mobile industry processor interface (MIPI) compliant camera and RF interfaces. Marvell is currently sampling the Pantheon platform to its customers.

Sagem Orga and Telefonica announce first SIMFi WiFi capable SIM Card

Today Sagem Orga and Telefonica announced a new SIM card called SimFi which has an embedded WLAN modem on it. The new technology will let your phone act as a WiFi hotspot, similar to the way the Novatel MiFi hotspot works, except it's not dependent on the device, but rather just the SIM. It will allow you to broadcast your 3G (HSPA) signal to other WiFi capable devices, like notebooks and personal media players.
