BlackBerry Live registration opens for May 2013 event

Google may have been first to announce when registration for its developer conference will begin, but BlackBerry is first to actually open registration. BlackBerry Live, formerly known as BlackBerry World until the company decided to use that brand for its new app and media store, will be held May 14-16 in Orlando, Florida. Registration for the event is open now at BlackBerryLive.com. BlackBerry says it will use Live to showcase new enterprise developers, carrier partners, and the latest in BlackBerry 10.

Judge slashes Apple's $1.05 billion judgment against Samsung, orders new trial for damages

Samsung earned a tiny victory in its ongoing patent-related legal dispute with Apple. Though a jury last August ruled that Samsung should pay $1.05 billion to Apple for patent and trademark infringement in its Galaxy Android products, U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh has dropped the damage amount.
