U.S. Cellular to sell phones with postpaid contracts in more than 460 Walmart stores

U.S. Cellular is expanding its retail footprint by selling phones and postpaid plans at more than 460 Walmart stores in areas that its network reaches. Walmart already distributes U.S. Cellular prepaid services in more than 400 stores under the U Prepaid brand, but the retailer is adding postpaid contracts in an effort to increase sales and offer more options to consumers willing to sign a contract. Participating Walmart locations will first carry the Samsung Galaxy S III, Huawei Ascend II, Samsung Chrono 2 and Samsung Freeform for U.S. Cellular.

T-Mobile to pre-load Lookout Mobile Security on Android smartphones and tablets

T-Mobile has announced that it intends to pre-install the Lookout Automatic App Security app on most Android smartphones and tablets released in 2013. T-Mobile says that most Android devices will have Lookout software that scans installed applications for spyware and malware that can reveal private information. The app will also provide backups and restoration procedures for contacts; track and locate missing devices; and remotely lock or wipe a phone that is lost. Automatic App Security is based on Lookout's Mobile app available in Google Play, and will first be preloaded onto the LG Optimus L9 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
