The device typically retails for $199.99 with a contract. The Vibrant sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 5 megapixel camera with HD video recording, and WiFi among other high-end specs. | BlackBerry Bold 9650 now available on U.S. Cellular Posted: 18 Aug 2010 04:30 AM PDT U.S. Cellular is now offering RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphone. The 9650 offers a 2.4-inch HVGA display with an optical trackpad, a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording, WiFi, and global roaming capabilities. The new BlackBerry ships with BlackBerry OS 5, but U.S. Cellular says the phone will be upgraded to the BlackBerry 6 operating system in the coming months. | 150,000 BlackBerry Torch 9800 units sold during first weekend, analysts estimate Posted: 17 Aug 2010 10:21 AM PDT Analysts with two firms, RBC Capital Markets and Stifel Nicolaus, have estimated that Research in Motion (RIM) sold 150,000 of its new BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone during its first weekend of sales. That's far fewer than the 1.7 million iPhone 4 units Apple sold during its first three days on sale, however, as The Wall Street Journal points out, Torch 9800 sales could increase as RIM's corporate clients upgrade. | U.S. Cellular launching BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphone on August 18 Posted: 17 Aug 2010 06:58 AM PDT Today U.S. Cellular announced that it will launch the BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphone tomorrow. The Bold 9650 sports a 2.4-inch display, 3G data speeds, WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and support for microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. | Apple global supply manager pleads not guilty to bribery charges Posted: 17 Aug 2010 05:54 AM PDT Apple's global supply manager, Paul Shin Devin.e, who has been charged for taking as much as $1 million in kickbacks and bribes from Apple iPhone and iPod accessory suppliers, has pleaded not guilty in San Jose, according to The Wall Street Journal. Another bail hearing has been set for Wednesday. Apple has said it has zero tolerance for dishonest behavior inside and outside the company. Read the full story here. |

| Best Buy "shopkick" smartphone app to offer location based coupons Posted: 17 Aug 2010 05:10 AM PDT Best Buy has announced a new "shopkick" smartphone application that the retailer will trial in 257 of its U.S. stores in some major metropolitan areas, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose, New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Miami. The application will be available for the iPhone first, followed by Android, and detects "shopkick signal" technology when a customer walks in the door. The phone will then be alerted of "kickbucks" that can be earned over time and redeemed for Best Buy gift certificates. Read the full story here. |
