Samsung Plans a Flood of Tizen Products Posted: 15 Jan 2015 01:26 PM PST As I have written previously, Samsung's plans for its Tizen operating system extend far beyond the launch of the Z1, the first smartphone running the platform, which was launched yesterday. Secretive New LG Tablet Found at the FCC Posted: 15 Jan 2015 07:45 AM PST A new LG tablet has been found on the listings at the FCC, the US body that passes products for sale in the country. The model number LG LK430 gives way to the description of "potable tablet" and the device seems to be well connected with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and interestingly Cat. 4 LTE 4G. Posted: 15 Jan 2015 07:22 AM PST I have been saying for a long time that Samsung is looking to Tizen long term and if the software is successful the Korean company will make a move from Android for its core products. A Samsung source confirmed this to me, although some commentators still see Tizen as a hobby for the company... It's not. With Tizen smartwatches, TVs, and now a first smartphone (the Z1 launched this week), Samsung is laying a foundation. Read the full story here. |

The device will be available from January 20th and will cost $403. Posted: 15 Jan 2015 06:00 AM PST According to Reuters, Korean company Samsung is in talks with Canadian smartphone maker Blackberry over a $7.5 billion deal to buy the company. Reuters is reporting that Samsung (the world?s largest smartphone manufacturer) is interested in Blackberry's rich portfolio of patents and is will to pay $13.35 to $15.49 per share, which is at least 38% over the value of the company.
