VAIO Coming Back without Sony, Bringing Smartphones with it Posted: 29 Dec 2014 11:35 AM PST Amidst tumbling profits, losing quarters, and job losses, Sony took drastic action and left the PC industry entirely last year by selling off its VAIO brand. The company off-loaded the brand to Japan Industrial Partners, an investment group, but according to Japan based newspaper Nikkei, the new owners have much more planned for the VAIO name beyond computing products. Just months after its launch is seems as though Samsung's Galaxy Alpha is coming to the end of its life as South Korea's ET News is reporting that the smartphone will be discontinued.
