Gestures Beta App: Take Calls without Touching the Screen Posted: 15 Dec 2014 11:46 AM PST Microsoft's Windows Phone platform may be losing the operating system war to iOS and Android (by a long way too), but that does not mean it is without interesting features. It is actually a very robust platform and yours truly would love to see it more prominent if Microsoft can solve a few nagging issues. Samsung Falls, Apple, Xiaomi, and Android Surge Says Gartner Posted: 15 Dec 2014 07:48 AM PST The popularity of smartphones shows no sign of slowing down around the world as 20% more handsets were sold through the last quarter compared to the previous period. The data (and a lot more besides) was compiled by reputed market researchers Gartner. The company found that 310 million smartphones have been shipped during the last three month period, while feature phones continue to tumble to obscurity thanks to more availability of budget smartphones. Apps and Games for iOS that Android Does Not Have Posted: 15 Dec 2014 07:30 AM PST Both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store are full of applications, with both offerings hovering around the 1 million app mark. Both markets are full of awful apps and perhaps only 20% of the titles are worth looking at, at least for any length of time. LG Surprises with Windows Toting Tab Book Duo Posted: 15 Dec 2014 06:26 AM PST LG are in the Windows tablet/convertible market now after releasing the Tab Book Duo, a slate none of us saw coming and one that boasts a battery life that rivals iPads and Android tablets.
