HTC Desire 620 Europe Bound in January

HTC raised the curtain on the solid mid-range Desire 620 back last month, and the handset is expected to land in the company's Taiwan homeland this month. Any brief worries that this would be an Asian exclusive smartphone have quickly been dashed as HTC confirmed the Desire 620 is also bound for Europe in January.

Samsung's New Galaxy E Budget Series

We know full well that Samsung is not averse to releasing a new smartphone series and the company will continue with another new line imminent. So much for the company changing its strategy for a less is more policy in the wake of declining profits. The company has released the Galaxy Alpha, the Note 4, and the A Series recently, but a new range is on the way with the model numbers SM-E700 and SM-E500.

Samsung Readying Galaxy Note 4 Variant with Snapdragon 810

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor is out there now in the wild powering a couple of reference devices, but we are still waiting for it to arrive on a true OEM device. With the race on we have heard rumors of upcoming flagships from LG, Sony, Samsung, Meizu, and Xiaomi all using the first 64-bit processor from Qualcomm, but it could be an existing smartphone that gets the chip first.

This year with the iPhone 6 I have been surprised with how many devices look like Apple's handset, but come from major companies. We are used to small Chinese brands knocking off the iPhone, but giants like Lenovo (S90) tend to have their own solid designs.

Dedicated app memory is not the problem it once was with most modern smartphones, but those rocking budget or older handsets will know all too well about running out of space for apps while still having gigs of storage available. LG to Favor G4 over G Pro 2, Just One Flagship in 2015

LG has had a stellar year for its smartphone business, selling more units and becoming a major device maker by sending out multiple devices. However, while LG now fills many niches, the company is willing to kill off one of its main handsets in 2015 in favor of its current flagship flyer. The company will shake up its smartphone business by launching just one flagship in 2015, instead of the usual two.

Microsoft Clamps Down on Windows and Office Piracy

There are plenty of people out there using Microsoft's products (Office and Windows) illegally without paying for them. While some would argue that its fair game, Microsoft certainly begs to differ and is ready to go to war with those doing it. Torrent Freak says that the software giant is going to start taking people to court when it detects they are using pirated copies of products such as Office and Windows.
