NVIDIA Shield Tablet to get Android 5.0 this month

NVIDIA has confirmed that its new Shield Tablet will be among the first third party devices to get Android 5.0 Lollipop. The company confirmed when the device launched that it would be getting Lollipop, but it is certainly a surprise for the company to now say the Shield Tablet will get the bump this month. NVIDIA says it is a simple software update, so this will probably be the first slate on the market aside from Google's own Nexus 9 to have the latest version of the Android platform.

AT&T offers three new smartphones, Lumia 830, HTC One M8 Windows, and Desire EYE

AT&T has revealed that it is launching three new smartphones to its network. Two will be Windows Phone devices, the new Microsoft Nokia Lumia 830 and the HTC One M8 for Windows, while another HTC device is also coming to Ma Bell in the form of the Android powered Desire EYE.

Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge is ready to make its debut in the US market with some of the largest carriers in the country confirming the device. As you would expect from an exclusive device that carries some innovative features, the Note Edge is properly expensive. Considering it is not as rounded as the Galaxy Note 4, the Edge is really for those who must have new tech or want to stand out from the smartphone crowd.

HTC recommits to 90 day Android 5.0 update

HTC has reiterated its commitment to update the HTC One M7 and One M8 to Android 5.0 Lollipop within 90 days. When Google announced the new version of its mobile platform (Android L as it was then) HTC said that it would be updating this year's and 2013's flagship within three months of Lollipop's release.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is hardly a new device these days, in fact, it was launched in March 2013 and is now 18 months old. However, while some company's cut off support at this point of a smartphones' life, Samsung's old flagship was a monster seller and is still in the hands of tens of millions of people around the world. It's good then that the company is continuing to support the handset and will be sending out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Galaxy S4.

Sprint slashes 2000 jobs after poor third quarter

T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon have all announced their third quarter earnings recently, leaving us waiting on the last of the big four US carriers, Sprint. Whereas T-Mobile impressed, Verizon and AT&T stayed put, but for Sprint it is bad news once again as the nation's third biggest carrier slumped once more through a period and this time it is costing people jobs.
