Apple head of iOS leaving company, others gain new duties in executive responsibility change

Apple has just announced that it will alter its management structure in order to "encourage even more collaboration" between the leading executives of its hardware, software, and services departments. The company has also revealed that Scott Forstall, who has served as senior vice president of iOS Software, will not be a part of that restructuring effort and will leave Apple next year.

Verizon launching HTC Windows Phone 8X and Nokia Lumia 822 by Thanksgiving, Samsung ATIV Odyssey in December

Verizon Wireless has announced plans to sell the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Nokia Lumia 822 by Thanksgiving, which is November 22. The carrier said that the Windows Phone 8X will cost $199.99 on a two-year agreement and will be available in black, blue, or red color models. The Nokia Lumia 822 will sell for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and will be available in black, grey, or white. While both phones will go on sale by Thanksgiving, Verizon says that it will release the Samsung ATIV Odyssey, a device for which neither Verizon nor Samsung has shared any details, by the end of the year.

Alongside Google's announcments of its new tablets this afternoon, the company also announced that it has refreshed the Google Play Store front with new entertainment. Google announced new partnerships with Time Inc. and Warner Music Group to bring new songs and new magazine titles directly to the hands of Android smartphone and tablet users. Google also said it will now offer movie purchases for users in Canada, U.K., France, Spain and Australia beginning today.

Pandora coming to Windows Phone 8 with 1 year of ad-free service

At its Windows Phone 8 launch event, Microsoft announced that it intends to have 46 of the top 50 Android and iOS apps available on Windows Phone 8. Though there were a few notable games and apps mentioned, the most significant announcement was that music streaming service Pandora will launch on Windows Phone 8. Pandora, which creates personalized radio stations centered on an artist and then curates playlists based on user feedback, will debut on Windows Phone 8 in early 2013. Microsoft also revealed that to celebrate the launch, it will offer one year of Pandora's ad-free streaming service to all Windows Phone users, a $36 value.

The Huawei Ascend P1 will soon be available with a white back at UK retailer Phones4U. The white version of the Ascend P1 will go on sale tomorrow for 299 GBP (US $481.51) when purchased unlocked. It will also be available fore free when purchased on a 20 GBP (US $32.11) pay-monthly deal from O2, Orange, T-Mobile, and Vodafone. The Huawei Ascend P1 has a 4.3-inch screen, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and a thin 7.69mm frame. PSA: Google Nexus event postponed

If you were hoping to hear the official announcement of a new line of Google Nexus phones and tablets, you will be disappointed to learn that no such proclamation will come from Google today. Due to Hurricane Sandy bringing adverse weather to New York City, the city where Google's "The Playground is Open" press event was to take place this morning, Google decided to cancel today's unveiling of new Nexus devices. The phone and software announcements expected today have been pushed back to a yet to be decided date and location. UPDATE: Rather than reschedule its launch event, Google has instead announced a Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Google Play expansion.

Nokia Lumia 822 announced for Verizon Wireless
