Google bans Facebook and others from updating apps outside of Google Play

Google has changed the rules of its Google Play Store to put an end to the practice of developers updating their apps through their own means rather than the official Google Play channel. That will force Facebook and other apps to get in line or risk expulsion from the official Android app store.
