UK's 4G population is now 318,000, EE expects to reach 1 million subscribers by year-end

How many people in the UK have 4G service? EE today revealed that the number of mobile subscribers who have signed up for 4G plans has reached 318,000 in just five months of availability, and the number is on track to reach 1 million customers in 2013. EE, currently the only operator in the UK that delivers 4G, is scheduled to deploy its network far enough to reach 70 percent of the UK's population by the end of the year. The number of total subscribers could reach even higher once O2, Vodafone, and others launch their 4G networks later this year.

Yahoo! unveils redesigned iPhone app powered by Summly, improves media display in search results

Yahoo last month acquired Summy, a news app that summarized articles down to shorter bites, and it has since integrated the now defunct app into the Yahoo! app for Apple iOS. Yahoo! users can select certain categories or topics and the app will selectively display breaking news and top stories based on those interests. Aside from shortening the news, it also improves the way search results are displayed for photos and video, which are available by tapping on tabs near the bottom of the screen. The new Yahoo! iOS app is available for iPhone and iPod touch in the U.S. Download Yahoo! for iOS
