Samsung points to strong Galaxy smartphone sales for record Q2 profits

As has been its custom for the past few quarters, Samsung has released estimated performance figures ahead of its official financial reports for Q2 2012. This past quarter, the electronics giant is reporting record profits, thanks in most part to strong sales of its Galaxy line of smartphones.

Archos announced the 97 Carbon today, it's latest Android tablet. The 97 Carbon is part of the company's new Elements entry-level line and features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Google Galaxy Nexus to return to Google Play Store next week, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in tow

Google confirmed to ABC News today that the Galaxy Nexus smartphone would go back on sale in its Google Play Store next week. The Galaxy Nexus has been at the center of a patent controversy this week that has resulted in the ban on sales of the device. The phone was found to infringe upon a search patent owned by Apple, which allows a device to search the internet as well as content on the device itself. It was removed from the Google Play Store Tuesday evening, though Google did not specify exactly why. Now, Google says that Galaxy Nexus will be available for purchase once again next week, and that it will also have the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and a software fix to address the patent infringement.

HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE now available from Verizon Wireless

As announced earlier this week, the HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE is now available for purchase from Verizon Wireless. The newest member of the Incredible family of smartphones is the first to feature support for Verizon's LTE network. It sports a 4-inch, qHD display and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor. The Incredible 4G LTE runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's Sense 4.0 interface. The device can be purchased for $149.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Motorola ATRIX HD breaks cover ahead of official debut

Motorola revealed through its website this week the new ATRIX HD, a follow-up to its line of ATRIX Android smartphones. Looking very similar to the Motorola DROID RAZR for Verizon Wireless, the ATRIX HD sports high-end specs and Kevlar materials in its construction.

Apple rumored once again to be planning smaller iPad tablet

Rumors that Apple has a smaller version of its iPad tablet in the works for a launch later this year are heating up again, as both Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal claim to have sources with inside information about the device. Apple has been rumored to be working on a smaller, possibly 7-inch, version of the iPad ever since the original iPad was released back in 2010.

HTC doesn't infringe Apple's patents says UK court

HTC gained a victory in its court battles with Apple yesterday, as courts in the UK cleared the Taiwanese company of any infringement upon Apple's smartphone patents. According to the judge, of the four patents that Apple claimed were being infringed upon by HTC, HTC did not violate any of them, and three of those patents were considered invalid. The one patent considered valid by the courts, which relates to management of photos on a mobile device, was not found to be infringed upon by HTC's devices. Apple has sued HTC over the same patent violations in Germany, with a trial scheduled to take place later this year.
