Android 5.1 for LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition

Android 5.1 Lollipop is continuing to make its way out into the wild, coming to Nexus and other devices close to Google first. The next in line is the Google Play Edition of the LG G Pad 8.3, which is getting its update to the newer software build now. The slate has been rocking Android 5.0 since way back in November 2014, but it is now upgrading to the newer 5.1 through OTA updates.

Samsung Gear A to Feature Calling and Round Face

Samsung was one of the first major smartphone brands (along with Sony) to put a smartwatch on the market, a couple of years earlier than most of its rivals. However, the Apple Watch has swept in and stolen the limelight and will probably steal the sales too, so while Samsung's previous smartwatch efforts have been solid, it is probably time for the company to knuckle down and deliver spectacular.

Samsung is enjoying a good start to the year, and 2015 is certainly showing more promise than the dud that was 2014. The question has long been whether last year's problems were a blip or a long term decline, and it seems that it was the former. The new Galaxy S6 has shed light on Samsung once more, while the company says it expects to outperform analysts through the first quarter.

LG to Debut UX 4.0 Alongside G4 Flagship

LG's latest smartphone user experience was leaked yesterday, which seems to have prompted the company too officially unveil the software. The South Korean brand announced UX 4.0, a new Android UI that will be launched on the LG G4 flagship, a handset that is due to launch at the end of this month (April).

HTC Records Profit through First Quarter

HTC has been turning around its financial outlook over the last year, a number of well-received smartphones and a change in strategy. The company has now reported an unaudited $11.6 million profit through the opening first quarter of this year. That's a big turnaround from the same time last year when the Taiwanese giant recorded a loss of $60 million.
