1 million Android apps are now available in Google Play Posted: 24 Jul 2013 09:18 AM PDT At the Breakfast with Sundar event at which Google debuted its new Nexus 7, Android and Chrome lead executive Sundar Pichai announced that Google Play has more than 1 million applications available for download. Google was forecasted by analysts to cross the million-app milestone in June, and the company confirmed today that there are more than a million Android apps and games to choose from in Google Play. That's twice as many apps that were available this time a year ago, and it also helps explain how Google Play managed to deliver more than 50 billion downloads to Android phone and tablet users since 2008. AT&T 4G LTE launches in handful of new markets Posted: 24 Jul 2013 08:02 AM PDT AT&T today added new markets to its list of cities and towns with 4G LTE service. The faster speeds and improved coverage for data and call reliability have expanded to seven new markets in the south, east, and west parts of the country. Those markets include: Greenville and Troy, Alabama; Merced-Madera-Chowchilla and Vallejo-Vacaville, Calif.; New London County, Conn.; Sussex County, Del.; and Columbia, Missouri.
