AT&T adds two new Mobile Share plan rates for 300MB or 2GB of data

AT&T Mobility increased the number of monthly data tiers for its Mobile Share plans. AT&T customers can now purchase a basic phone with unlimited calling and texting, along with 300MB of data, for $50 per month. A new 2GB smartphone option provides the same unlimited calling and texting starting at $70 per month. AT&T's lowest data options were previously 1GB and 4GB. The new plans allow for more flexibility for customers who need less than 4GB but still want to have more opportunities to send and receive data without obsessively checking their usage counter. More information is available at AT&T but its website has yet to update to show the new plans that go live July 26.

Apple confirmed on Friday that it purchased Locationary, a company that will help improve its iOS Maps listings data. Apple later acquired popular app HopStop, and that soon lead to unfortunate consequences for Windows Phone users.
