DISH abandons plans to acquire Sprint but doesn't rule out revisiting the matter as it focuses on Clearwire

DISH Network CEO Charlie Ergen has made it clear that his company badly wants to break into the wireless industry and use up its stockpile of spectrum, but the satellite TV provider won't seek Sprint as its entry point to becoming a cellular provider.

New Verizon DROID smartphone launching soon

Verizon Wireless will soon release a new DROID smartphone, though details about the manufacturer and specifications have yet to be released. The only reason we know that the phone is arriving soon is because the carrier has reactivated its DroidLanding Twitter account, which it only does in the weeks leading up to a new device launch. While it may be enticing to believe this might be related to the already confirmed HTC One or the fabled Moto X, I'm inclined to believe that this is something entirely different that hasn't been seen before. Whatever the phone may be, expect Verizon to shed more light on the phone soon. Listen out for the DROOOIIIIDDD sound effect. UPDATE: Actually, it's just a game

AT&T BlackBerry Q10 launches June 21 for $199.99

AT&T Mobility stores will begin selling the BlackBerry Q10 on June 21. The QWERTY-enabled BB10 phone will cost $199.99 when purchased on a two-year agreement, and it will also be eligible for AT&T's trade-in program for customers who wish to exchange their existing phone for a discount of at least $100. Sprint sues to block DISH offer for Clearwire

Sprint has filed a lawsuit against DISH Network and Clearwire, seeking to prevent Clearwire from accepting an offer from DISH that would change the management structure of the company and end Sprint's hope of acquiring the struggling carrier.
