Sprint BYSOD program excludes iPhone for reactivation, doesn't apply to Boost or Virgin Mobile

Sprint yesterday announced its support for a Bring Your Own Sprint Device program that enables MVNOs to reactivate Sprint devices on their networks. The BYOSD initiative lets customers bring old or out-of-contract phones to cheaper carriers, but there are limitations on what devices can be used and where they can be activated.

T-Mobile and MetroPCS merger clears DOJ hurdle

The proposed reverse merger between T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS won't be opposed by the Department of Justice. The review period for the DOJ to attempt to block the merger has passed, leaving only a few more steps for the deal to be finalized.

BlackBerry managed to launch the BlackBerry Z10 with more than 70,000 apps, but a large number of those apps were ported Android titles. The recent unauthorized porting of two popular Android apps shows that BlackBerry may have a problem getting companies to go native.

It's been a year since Google shed the Android Market name in favor of Google Play. As questionable as the rebranding may have been, Google has decided to celebrate the change with special promotions for all types of content in Google Play, as well as some real-world rewards.
