Google splits Docs and Sheets into standalone apps for Android and iOS

Google Drive is where users go to create and edit documents on their mobile devices, but Google has decided to separate the document aspects from Drive's primary purpose as a cloud storage service. Google Docs and Google Sheets are now standalone apps for Android and iOS. The apps can create or edit documents, save to Drive, and then resume editing on a computer or other mobile device. They also include editing, comments, sharing, and group collaboration. Google says that the change was made so it would be easier and quicker to get to documents, and Slides app is launching soon. Motorola will make the month of May a busy one. Following LG's announcement that it's launching a new smartphone next month, the company owned by Google and soon to be controlled by Lenovo will announce its new phone May 13.

Hulu will stream some TV shows to mobile devices for free later this year

Hulu has announced a new programming change is coming to its streaming television and movie service. Though it currently requires that anyone wishing to watch videos on a smartphone or tablet subscribe to a monthly Hulu Plus plan, Hulu will stream some TV episodes with ads rather than a subscription requirement.

LG G3 will debut May 27

Yesterday it was confirmed that LG would soon launch the G3 in order to help improve smartphone sales in the second quarter of 2014. Today we learn the exact date of the unveiling will be May 27. LG has sent invitations for six global events in London, New York, and San Francisco on May 27, followed by Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul on May 28. Aside from being tech and media hubs, those cities also represent potential markets the phone could launch soon after it is announced.
