Google Play Music adds library matching in U.S.

When Google launched its Play Music service in Europe , it included a feature that scans a user's library and automatically adds high-quality versions of songs the company has on its servers. Matching songs is now a feature available to Play Music users in the U.S. Rather than upload 20,000 songs, Google will add existing files to a user's library and only upload songs it does not already have on its servers. Over the next few weeks, Google will apply the match strategy to existing libraries and replace lower-quality songs with 320kbps MP3 files when available.

Sprint 4G LTE launches in Chicago

Sprint has flipped the LTE switch in the Chicago metropolitan area. Though the company previously launched 4G LTE service in select Chicagoland markets, the network had not yet reached Chicago proper. Customers in the downtown areas of the Windy City and some surrounding areas should now be able to access faster speeds on their LTE-capable devices like the HTC EVO 4G LTE, Samsung Galaxy S III, or LG Optimus G.

Samsung withdraws patent-based injunction requests against Apple in Europe

Samsung Galaxy Note II on T-Mobile to get Multi Window support December 19

T-Mobile has confirmed that it will update the Samsung Galaxy Note II on December 19. The new firmware version will resolve some issues with Exchange calendar events and being unable to swipe through Gmail messages, but Multi Window will be the big story of the update. The Galaxy Note II will soon gain support for Multi Window, a TouchWiz UX feature that can create a split-screen for select apps, allowing users to email and browse the web or read texts and create an S Note. The update will be available via Samsung Kies or over-the-air beginning tomorrow.
