T-Mobile USA ditches overage charges on 5GB webConnect data plans

Today T-Mobile USA announced that it will no longer charge customers overage fees if they exceed the monthly 5GB data limit with their T-Mobile webConnect devices. Instead, T-Mobile will reduce the data speeds available. For the 200MB plan, overage charges will be cut in half. T-Mobile is also offering a promotion for its HSPA+ roll-out by providing a a $10 discount on its 5GB webConnect monthly plan.

Nexus One launches on Vodafone U.K., will be available in stores

Today Vodafone U.K. announced that it will begin online preorders for Google's Android powered Nexus One smartphone starting on April 30th. The device will be free with a 2-year a £35 monthly price plan, and Vodafone U.K. says tah the device will also be sold in its stores and through telesales.

One Apple iPad per person now allowed in Israel

The Israel Ministry of Communications issued a release that says that one Apple iPad per person is now allowed in the country. The announcement came after Israel stopped imports of the iPad to perform testing.

RIM to launch new BlackBerry Concierge feature

During the WES conference in Orlando today, Research in Motion's co-CEO Jim Balsillie discussed a new feature that the firm will begin rolling out with its carrier partners in the future. The software is called BlackBerry Concierge, and, according to The Wall Street Journal, it will allow users to better keep track of their applications and the way they use them. "Users will be able to review what music they listened to, who they tweeted or what they purchased on eBay using the Concierge feature," The Wall Street Journal explained. There's no word on when the feature will be rolled out.

Samsung to provide Yahoo software on its phones globally

Today Yahoo and Samsung announced a new mobile partnership in which Samsung will provide Yahoo's branded services on its cell phones, including Samsung Bada and Android devices. The phones may come preloaded with one or more of the following services: Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Contacts and Calendar, Yahoo Mobile Front Page, Yahoo Search, Flickr, Yahoo News, Yahhoo Finance, and Yahoo Weather. Samsung phones with Yahoo's software are expected to begin shipping globally in May 2010.

BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5 announced with Voice over WiFi calling

Today Research in Motion (RIM) announced BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5 (BlackBerry MVS 5) with WiFi calling. MVS 5 allows employees to place and receive enterprise phone calls over a WiFi connection through your company's private branch exchange (PBX) phone system. Notable features include WiFi network access controls, network preference settings for prioritizing WiFi or cellular networks, authentication security features, and call block-list filtering. MVS 5, comprised of client software and an MVS server, is expected to be available later this year.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphone headed to Sprint

Today Research in Motion (RIM) announced the new CDMA BlackBerry Bold 9650, a device that will replace the Tour line of smartphones. Now, Sprint has announced that it will carry the Bold 9650 for $199.99 with a 2-year contract beginning on Sunday, May 23rd.
