Microsoft Explains New Strategy amid Job Cuts

In the wake of Microsoft's announcement of over 7000 job cuts and a write off of $7.8 billion the company's CEO has sent an email to employees explaining Redmond's new strategy moving forward. Satya Nadella detailed how the company is deciding to move away from the idea of building a full smartphone company and instead focusing on key devices that best show the Windows platform.

Indeed, any new iPhone flagship typically becomes the best-selling smartphone of the year within its first few weeks on sale. Microsoft Writes Off Billions, Cut 7800 Jobs

We announced last month that Microsoft will have to write off most of the money it paid for Nokia's Lumia devices division, the third huge write off for the company in as many years. That finality has now been officially announced by the company with a $7.8 billion write off, but it actually gets a lot worse as Microsoft is also cutting 7800 workers.

Sony Xperia Z4v Coming to Verizon August 13th

While the Xperia Z4v was not the flagship we hoped to get from Sony, it is still the most decked out smartphone the company has ever made. It features market leading specs and is premium, although despite being well made we would like to see the company change up its flagship design a touch. We digress as the real news of the day is that Verizon has confirmed that it will start selling the Xperia Z4v from August 13th.

OnePlus 2 to Feature 5.5-inch Screen

The OnePlus 2 is close to being launching, which of course means we are now being treated to a flood of leaks that highlight the devices specs and design. The latest such report reconfirms some of the key specs while also adding details about the body of the new handset from OnePlus. It is worth remembering that the company itself has confirmed some things already, such as there being a 4GB of RAM variant of the smartphone.
