Cooliris, creators of the Android gallery app, launch new branded app to manage photos

Millions of people have used Cooliris' apps and probably don't know because the company's most successful creation is the Gallery app that Google used as the default photo browser in Android beginning in 2010. Now it has its own gallery that links local photos with multiple online sources.

Sprint Galaxy S III receives Android 4.4 KitKat today

Sprint today confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S III is receiving Android 4.4 KitKat today. The update is rolling out to devices now and can be accessed by going to Settings > More > System Update > Update Samsung Software. Sprint did not outline exactly what's new other than to say that this is the update that brings the phone up to Android 4.4, so users can download and look for typical KitKat features: slight boosts in performance speed and battery life, new cloud printing options, immersive screen mode, and a few behind-the-scenes changes with carrier apps and bugs.

Foursquare started as an app to see a friend's location but morphed into an app that shows a friend's location and helps users discover places to eat, dine, and entertain themselves. Foursquare today announced that it plans to separate those two functions into different apps.

As T-Mobile has its best quarter ever, Sprint buyout rumors resurface

T-Mobile US today announced that it had a record quarter, adding a net 2.5 million new customers in the first quarter of 2014. The nation's fourth-place carrier credits its "Un-carrier" programs as the reason it captured "nearly all" of the consumer growth in the wireless industry, and Sprint is again set to buy the company.
