Apple has sold 170 million iPads that use 475,000 tablet-specific apps Posted: 22 Oct 2013 11:04 AM PDT "Everybody seems to be making a tablet," Apple CEO Tim Cook said at today's iPad announcement, "Even some of the [initial] doubters." Despite the onslaught of tablet competition from Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and other tablet manufacturers, Apple remains the most used and best selling device line, Cook claims. He also noted that the iPad has more than 475,000 apps in the App Store built specifically for the iPad. Apple iPad livestream video starts at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PDT Posted: 22 Oct 2013 07:09 AM PDT Apple rarely broadcasts its product announcements, but the folks in Cupertino have decided to make today's iPad event one of the rare occasions at which the cameras turn on. In traditional fashion, only Apple devices will be able to access the stream. Video will go live at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM ET on Apple TV, an iOS 4.2 or later device, or a Mac running Mac OS X 10.6 or later computer.
