Verizon selling spectrum to U.S. Cellular in Oklahoma Posted: 08 Jan 2013 10:46 AM PST Verizon Wireless today announced that it has agreed to sell its 700 MHz A block licenses in Oklahoma City and 31 counties in Oklahoma to U.S. Cellular. The transaction is subject to FCC approval but will transfer spectrum covering a total of 1.9 million when completed. Verizon has been selling or leasing its 700 MHz spectrum to smaller carriers in rural and midmarket areas because they are no longer necessary to the company's long-term plan for LTE coverage. Since 2011, Verizon has sold 37 700 MHz licenses, including a sale to Clear Talk in 10 markets last November. Read the full story here. |
