Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II updates, likely to fix Exynos exploit and re-lock bootloader

Verizon is now pushing an over-the-air update to the Samsung Galaxy Note II, though the company has yet to declare what changes the update makes to its largest phone. Considering that Samsung yesterday issued updates to the Epic 4G Touch and the Galaxy Note II on T-Mobile to address security vulnerabilities related to the Exynos processors, it's likely that the Verizon update does the same. While the update addresses some important security concerns, it also appears to prevent a method used to unlock the device bootloader and enable customization. Those who like to tinker with their phone's software may want to wait to learn more about the update before applying it.

Samsung upgrades Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Samsung has confirmed that it is now updating three of its Android tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and both Wi-Fi models of the Galaxy Tab 2, to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware. The update also adds several enhancements to its S Pen stylus and Premium Suite software features.

British mobile operator O2 held a pilot program where it sold the HTC One X+ without a USB charger, and the results of the initiative have convinced the company that customers don't need to have a charger bundled with their new devices.
