Editorial: Tablets sinking so why not Target the PC?

Apple's tumbling iPad sales may have made Android fans happy, but the humor will not live long as the tablet market as a whole is in what is increasingly seeming like terminal decline. Digitimes Research and TrendForce say that all tablets will decline over the fourth quarter and through the first period of 2016, whether it is a slate from Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, or the myriad other companies.

Oppo A53 Makes its Way through TENAA

We told you last week about the Oppo A53m and Oppo A33m, a pair of smartphone expected to be launched by the company in the coming weeks. The A53 has now passed through TENAA, the Chinese regulatory body that certifies products for sale in China. We are putting two and two together and (we think) safely assuming that the A53 is a variant of the A53m.

LG G4 Receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow Now

We knew that LG's flagship G4 smartphone would be getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow quickly, the company's collaboration with Google on the Nexus 5X means it has had access to Marshmallow for a while. The G4 is now beginning its Android 6.0 rollout with LG sending out the update in its home nation, South Korea.

66% of Devices Running iOS 9

Apple says that adoption rates of iOS 9 are progressing well and the company says it is the fastest growing operating system build in its history. The iPhone manufacturer says that 66 per cent of all compatible devices are now running iOS 9, including iOS 9.1 which has been recently rolled out by Apple.

Xiaomi Launches in Africa

Xiaomi has built itself into one of the major smartphone manufacturers in the world by selling products in emerging markets, starting in China and then expanding through Asia and into India. While the next major frontier for the Chinese brand is the United States and Europe, the company is still not finished making its presence felt in emerging markets, with Africa the latest to get Xiaomi's smartphones.
