Sony rolls out Xperia Z3v Verizon exclusive

Sony has unveiled a new variant of its Xperia Z3 flagship device for the US market today in the form of the Xperia Z3v. The v in the name means Verizon as this is the Japanese company's Verizon version of the Z3, complete with a few minor changes.

Microsoft may ditch its Surface tablets

Microsoft has not had a good time with its Surface line of tablets, despite the fact that they are well made, well spec'd, good looking, and in the case of the Surface Pro range, amazingly functional. The company has used a marketing strategy that says the only tablet worth getting is a Surface, forget the iPads and Android slates if you crave true productivity. However, it seems the company is losing faith in the Surface brand and according to Digitimes is willing to axe it.

Galaxy Nexus can now have KitKat and Android L

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a little long in the tooth now, released in 2011 it is very much from a different era of smartphone technology. It is no surprise that Google has stopped supporting its Nexus device, with the Galaxy Nexus laid to rest last year when Mountain View said it would not be getting Android 4.4 KitKat. However, thanks to a bit of fiddling from developers, it is now possible to run KitKat in a stable condition on the Galaxy Nexus and it is even going to be good for Android L.

Motorola has had its big roll out of the year when it launched the Moto X, Moto G, and Moto 360, but the company is not quite finished yet. Apple named top brand for second consecutive year

Last year Apple snatched first place in Interbrand's "Best Global Brands" survey from Coca-Cola and has held onto the accolade for a second consecutive year. The New York consulting firm says Apple's brand value of $118.9 billion, which means the company has solidified its position at the top with a 21% rise from 2013.

Yes, the phallic design of HTC's new camera is hardly in keeping with the company's solid reputation with aesthetics, and that's coming from a fan of HTC hardware.
