Google has plenty of reasons to smile based on today's earnings report of $14.9 billion, a 12 percent increase compared to same period last year. Motorola, the company that Google paid $12.5 billion to acquire in 2011, was not among them.

Verizon adds 1 million new customers and grows 4G LTE to reach 303 million U.S. residents

Verizon Wireless today announced that it has added 1.1 million net customers in the third quarter of 2013. The growth brings Verizon's total number of wireless customers to 101.2 million, 95.2 million of which are postpaid consumers with contracts.
