Firefox Mobile for Android possible by end of year says Mozilla VP

In an interview today, Mozilla's vice president of mobile, Jay Sullivan, said that Firefox Mobil browser for Android could happen by the end of this year. "It's a modern OS, and it's a great fit with us. It's the type of platform that has a high affinity with the early adopter, and it's seen a lot of uptake," Sullivan told Tech Radar, noting that part of the delay has been because Firefox Mobile is built on C and C++ code, but that the Open Handset Alliance's new Native Development Kit makes it easier to port Firefox Mobile.

Telefonica O2 to sell HTC Smart in Germany, Ireland, and the U.K.

HTC and Telefonica today announced that HTC's new BREW MP powered Smart, a pseudo-smartphone, will be sold through O2 in Germany, Ireland, and in the United Kingdom. The Smart will also be available in Italy on Telecom Italia and in Norway on Netcom. The device will begin retailing in Apri 2010.
