Huawei Honor 7 Coming to Europe

Huawei has officially confirmed its Honor 7 smartphone for the European market, where the company will be hoping for even some of the success the device has enjoyed so far. Nine million units have been pre-ordered in China, and while that is not a guarantee of purchase (as it would be in other countries) it does mean plenty of people are interested in the new mid-range device.

HTC Desire 626 Arrive on Verizon for $192

The HTC Desire 626 is unlikely to turn the company's fortunes around, especially with its very modest specs. The handset is relatively affordable and good-looking though and is now making its debut on Verizon and will cost a rather reasonable $192 unlocked from Big Red.

Gigaset Smartphone Coming from Former Siemens Division

We remember back in the good old days of feature phones when many companies we now admire so much were not really big names at all. LG, Apple, and even Samsung had little market presence, while the likes of HTC were finding their feet and the likes of Xiaomi and Maize did not even exist. This was a mobile market dominated by Nokia, but there was also a company called Siemens, and it was among the biggest mobile companies in the world.

LG G4 Pro to Boast Dual Rear Cameras

LG announced at an earnings call early this year that it would be debuting another flagship smartphone in 2015, a phablet heavyweight to go alongside the current G4. The company went as far as calling the device super-premium, so since then we have been expecting a lot from the so-called LG G4 Pro. Today we have another round of specs to sink our teeth into and they prove that the device certainly will be a beast.

2015 LG Nexus 5 Leaked with Fingerprint Scanner

The secret is out there by now, LG will be making a new Nexus devices for Google in the shape of a revamped version of its Nexus 5 smartphone from 2013. The image you see above is reported to be that new device, and as you can see one of the differences is the inclusion of a circular fingerprint sensor on the rear of the handset.

OnePlus 2 Arriving Next Weekend in "Aggressive Invite Rollout"

OnePlus makes fantastic smartphones, but the company's invite system to purchase one is frustrating. It is a model that has sort of worked (the OnePlus One was a sales success), but we can't help but think the company would sell a lot more if it opened up sales. Cost cutting is the reason for the invite system, but OnePlus says it has finally cracked how to get this sales model right and soon and "aggressive invite rollout" will happen.

Xiaomi to Make its Own Processors

Xiaomi is following in the footsteps of Huawei, LG, and of course Samsung by producing its own processors, the Chinese company announcing the new division today. However, while Samsung provides silicon for third parties, Xiaomi will follow Huawei's footsteps and will be building processors solely for its own products.

Meizu MX5 Coming to India this Month

Meizu's MX5 flagship was announced earlier in the month by the Chinese company and is a very good high end smartphone that delivers on the company?s early promise. Meizu is making plenty of progress in the smartphone world and has been more open to launching its devices worldwide, unlike rival Xiaomi. Today Meizu announced that the MX5 will be making its debut in India, one of the most important emerging markets.

Some Wednesday afternoon advice... you should consider buying an Amazon Fire Phone. Ok, before you laugh we want to say we mean it, you should get this handset, which admittedly was one of the greatest tech flops in history. A disaster of epic proportions, Amazon's first smartphone was not a failure because it sucked, so as it is now only $130 (with some incentives too) we just think it is worth a look a year on from its release.

LG G Pad 2 10.1 coming at IFA

LG is launching a new phablet flagship later in the year, but the so-called G4 Pro is unlikely to be unveiled at the IFA trade show in Berlin next month. Instead the Korean company will keeps itself busy by launching a new tablet, the G Pad 2 10.1, a larger version of the 8-inch G Pad 2 that the company launched in South Korea last month.

Microsoft Launches Full Beta of Cortana on Google Play

Microsoft today launched a public beta of Cortana on Google Play, bringing its virtual assistant to the Android mobile platform. However, if you are outside the United States you will not be able to see Cortana as Microsoft is only launching the app in its home nation for the time being. We are sure that the virtual assistant will move to other markets in due course.

LG G Watch R gets Wi-Fi Update

LG's G Watch R is almost a year old, but it is still one of the better Android Wear devices out there and arguably the only one to look like a bona fide timepiece. To keep the wearable up to date LG conformed back in May that the G Watch R will be getting Wi-Fi connectivity at some point. It has taken four months but LG is now finally sending out that update.
