Microsoft Prepping Lumia 940 XL Phablet

Microsoft seems to finally be giving us what we have waited a long time for, a new flagship smartphone! The handset is said to be the Lumia 940 XL, which will be the company's first such device since taking over Nokia's devices and services division. Indeed, it will be the first Windows flagship since the HTC One M8 for WP and the first to carry the Lumia branding since the Lumia 930 (Icon).

Motorola Kinzie is the Next DROID Smartphone

We are huge fans of the Motorola DROID Turbo here at MobileBurn, despite its flaws (ugly, Verizon exclusivity, and unnecessary battery issues) and we are excited to see what Motorola cooks up for Big Red next. That upcoming device is codenamed the "Kinzie" (15XT85) and is reported to be coming with plenty of interesting (read high end) specs.

Apple Music Arrives with iOS 8.4 Tomorrow

Apple will be sending out its latest software update in the form of iOS 8.4, which will be landing on devices from tomorrow (June 30th). Of course, Cupertino recently announced iOS 9, but that will not land until this fall, so build 8.4 is as new as it gets at the moment. The big news with this update is that it comes with Apple's own music streaming service, Apple Music, which was showcased at WWDC recently.

The OnePlus 2 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year as we wait to see if lightning can strike twice and OnePlus can build another affordable flagship wonder. We already know that the handset will land sometime during the third quarter, while the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will be a high spec'd machine. A new leaked image seems to clear up what the device will look like too, and it is actually much of the same.

HTC Launches One ME in China and India

HTC has gone high end crazy this year, launching an array of flagship quality devices that all really are just off-shoots of the One M9, none of them particularly inspiring but all very good handsets. The company has now unveiled the One ME that for all intents and purposes is a renamed One M9+, although the new smartphone is not made of metal like the M9+.

It was among the best looking wearables, but it has recently been replaced by the ZenWatch 2, which is great news if you have your eyes on the original model. Windows 10 will be launching next month, but we will have to wait until the fall to get the mobile version of the platform. Windows 10 Mobile will arrive in the third quarter and is potentially the most complete mobile operating system Microsoft has ever made. It certainly looks nice judging by these leaked images of build number 10149, which will not actually be the final offering from Redmond.

There is little doubt that the HTC One M9 disappointed on so many levels and sales have taken a major hit as consumers turned away from the flagship. The Taiwanese company is now reeling without a successful flag waving handset in most markets, but HTC has said it will launch another top line smartphone later in the year and judging by early rumors it is going to re-introduce us to the HTC we know and love.

HTC One M9+ Available in Europe Unlocked

The HTC One M9+ is a higher spec'd version of the company's M9 flagship, it was launched as an Asian exclusive and HTC said that it would not be heading to Europe or North America. However, if you do live in Europe, you can still get your hands on the device as Dutch retailer GSSMinfo is now offering the unlocked version of the handset, although it is hugely expensive.

Xiaomi Mi 4i Available Worldwide for $238

For all its success, Xiaomi has yet to make an impact around the world, favouring its home Chinese market and a few other regions in Asia. The company said it would be expanding its portfolio during this year and the Mi 4i smartphone seems to be the first to spread its wings.
