Sony closing Reader Store, migrating users to Kobo

Sony has one more piece of important programming news to go along with the announcement that it's selling its PC division and spinning off the TV unit to focus on mobile devices. The Sony Reader store that supported ereaders, tablets, and smartphones will soon be shutdown in the US and Canada.

HTC supposedly chosen as the maker of the new Nexus tablet

HTC made the very first Nexus, but Google has chosen Samsung, LG, and ASUS to co-develop multiple Nexus devices without once returning to HTC. That may finally change later this year as HTC is rumored to be developing a "high-end model of the Google Nexus tablet line."

Boost lowers 4G LTE plans to $35

Sprint-owned MVNO Boost Mobile has temporarily lowed the cost of its 4G LTE plans. Boost will charge customers $35 per month for its unlimited talk, text, and data plans. The discounted rate will last only for the first six months that service is active. Customers will then go to the standard $50 rate and be able to low their bill down to $40 if they make 12 on-time monthly payments. Any 4G LTE-compatible Boost phone is eligible for this deal, which runs from now until March 31, 2014.

Yesterday offered our first look at what may be the back of the HTC One sequel, the M8. Since then, another pair of images supposedly showing the M8 have appeared online, providing a glance at the front of the phone.

Sony cuts ties with PC industry to focus on mobile

The days of the Sony VAIO are coming to an end. Sony today announced that it has sold its PC business to Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) as part of a strategy to focus on other areas, including its mobile division.
