AT&T to provide in-flight 4G LTE next year

AT&T has announced that it intends to build a service that will allow airline passengers to connect to 4G LTE. Compared to current in-flight data, which has speeds lower than even smartphone connections and isn't always ideal for media streaming, AT&T's service would be faster by meeting 4G LTE standards. The carrier aims to have its in-flight data running by late 2015, though it would only work on flights within the continental United States, meaning flights to or from Alaska and Hawaii would not be included. The names of airlines that would run the air-to-ground network have not been disclosed.

Microsoft set to phase out Nokia brand in favor of yet to be chosen name

The end of Nokia's name is nigh. We knew that was set to happen when Microsoft announced that it had obtained a 10-year license to use the Nokia name in smartphones as part of its $7.2 billion purchase, but Microsoft seems set on making the end of Nokia as a smartphone brand arrive much sooner than that.
