PlayStation Mobile begins offering free games for PlayStation Certified smartphones

Sony Mobile has announced that it has begun a promotion that will offer one premium Android game to owners of PlayStation-certified devices each week. For the next six weeks, the PlayStation Mobile store will offer a free game every seven days, beginning with the action-scroller Samurai Beatdown. The offer is available only in Japan, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Australia.

AT&T enables FaceTime over cellular for iPhone 4S smartphones with tiered data plans

Sprint adds 28 more cities to list of 4G LTE markets set to launch this year

Sprint is in a distant third-place among the major U.S. carriers, but the company today announced that it has begun work in an additional 28 markets. That brings Sprint close to 200 cities that it expects to launch 4G LTE by the end of the year.

AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile announce updates for select Samsung Galaxy phones

Android developers discovered last month that some Samsung smartphones using Exynos processors are vulnerable to attacks. Samsung announced shortly after that it would get to work patching the security hole, and three U.S. carriers today began updating their devices.

RIM gains approval from Visa for NFC payments

Research in Motion has gained an important endorsement from Visa. The BlackBerry smartphone manufacturer today announced that banking and credit processor Visa has approved RIM's Secure Element Manager for NFC-based mobile payments.

AT&T still offering free wireless Charging Plate for Nokia Lumia 920

When the Nokia Lumia 920 launched on AT&T, the carrier enticed customers to buy the phone by including a free Charging Plate for wireless charging. AT&T has continued what was supposed to be a limited-only promotion in the weeks since the phone launched, and it plans to continue that offer for the foreseeable future. AT&T will continue to supply a free Qi-powered wireless charger with the Nokia Lumia 920 until at least February 21, 2013, making the $99 Nokia smartphone the most attractive Windows Phone 8 option at AT&T.
