Facebook will remove messaging from main app, force members to use Messenger with few exceptions

The Facebook Messenger app will soon be a requirement for anyone wishing to communicate with Facebook friends on a mobile device. In two weeks, Facebook will remove the messaging functions from its Android iOS apps, forcing users to download the Facebook Messenger app.

Dropbox today announced that it plans to compartmentalize its features into new apps. The company still serves a cloud storage locker and backup for a wide range of data, but it's giving users a new option to have a dedicated photo gallery to browse their photos and a new app to read and send email.

Comcast reportedly has its eyes on expanding beyond the cable television and internet market by joining the ranks of mobile service providers. Reporters from The Information claim that their sources with knowledge of the situation say Comcast might try to compete with the major carriers but would still rely on their networks.
