Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Poses in Image

Sony is expected to announce its new flagship line up during the IFA event Berlin during the first week of September, with the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact the handsets in question. Not much is known about those devices other than they will be Sony's new high end smartphones and will bring market leading specs to the flagship series.

Android Wear getting Interactive Watch Faces

Google has sent out a small but useful update for its Android Wear platform that is found on myriad smartwatches on the platform. The company says that the update will be rolling out to every Android Wear device in the coming weeks and the meat of the update will be the inclusion of interactive watch faces. This will bring more ways to use the device when it is just in its watch face mode.

OnePlus 2 Recieves OxygenOS 2.0.1

The OnePlus 2 has been with us nearly a month and has won plenty of praise since launch, the Flagship Killer's high end specs and low price appealing to well over one million interested consumers. The Chinese company has now released an updated version of its own software for the OnePlus 2, with OxygenOS 2.0.1 arriving on the handset over the air right now.

Apple's iPhone 6s Up for Pre-Orders September 11th

Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus during September in 2014 and the company has been widely tipped to do the same with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus this year. That potential September announcement has now become much more likely as a French carrier as reportedly leaked that pre-orders will start on September 11th and the device will start shipping on the 18th.

Huawei Honor 7i Official with Flipping Single Camera

Huawei has raised the curtain on its newest smartphone, the Honor 7i, a mid-range smartphone that has been leaked plenty of times in recent weeks. You may remember that this is the quirky device with the sliding front facing camera, and those rumors were indeed true. However, while it was predicted to be a sliding camera, it is actually a flipping system that delivers the weirdest camera idea since Oppo's N3.

Gartner has released its latest market figures that reveal which operating systems are in front in terms of coverage, and the results are hardly surprising. September and IFA comes around too soon for Microsoft and its upcoming Windows 10 Mobile platform. The company may still have a presence at the event, but do not expect any major announcements on its software or any upcoming smartphones. However, October is much more likely and reports today suggest that Microsoft will hold an event in October to detail Windows 10 Mobile and to showcase some new Lumia smartphones.

The idea of an iPad Pro has been with us for a few years now, but since Apple tied up a deal with IBM last year that will probably expand enterprise, the iPad Pro rumor have gained even more traction. Now sources in Apple's supply chain are suggesting that the iPad Pro will be announced this year, during November in fact.

We are almost certainly going to see more smartphone tie ins with media such as music, movies, games, and TV. The reverse (i.e. product placements) has been common in those mediums for some time, but increasingly we are seeing themed special edition handsets, like the recent Samsung Galaxy S6 with Avengers colors. The latest such product is the Sony Xperia J1 Compact: The Phantom Pain.

HTC O2 Has Massive Specs

HTC's next smartphone flagship is starting to show up all the time in leaks and reports, and the latest details the monster specs of the device. Interestingly this will be a standalone high end smartphone and not a part of the Taiwanese company's M flagship brand. That means this new handset will not be called the One M10 but will instead be known as the HTC O2.

Verizon will not Support Samsung Pay

Samsung's newly launched Samsung Pay has suffered an early blow in one of the biggest economic markets as Verizon has revealed it will not offer support for the mobile payment system. Samsung Pay is coming to the United States on September 28th and out of the four major carriers in the country T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T will be offering the service.

LG has never been shy about copying its larger compatriot and it seems as though history may repeat itself as the company has taken out a trademark for G Edge.

Petition Launched to make Samsung Release Galaxy Note 5 in Europe

We revealed last week that Samsung will not be launching the Galaxy Note 5 in Europe, saying the old continent will be focused on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus instead. However, the Edge Plus is not the Note 5, it lacks the rich features, performance, and S Pen, and needless to say plenty in Europe (and even non-Europeans like us) are miffed about it.
