Google changes requirements for OEM?s, Google services should be more prominent

Google is reported to be changing the terms and conditions of its licensing agreements between it and Android device manufacturers. The specific change is thought to be highlighted around OEM's use Google Mobile Services such as Gmail, Maps, and other Google branded apps and services.

Blackberry recovering as losses tumble

Is Blackberry rebounding or is the path to its demise just levelling out? It depends who you listen to of course, but one thing is certain, the company's losses are moving in the right direction. That's probably a weird statement, but the truth is Blackberry's losses are falling and the company is creeping slowly back to being a profitable entity. However, the road is still long and there are no guarantees that the Canadian brand will ever reach its desired destination.

While many hard-core gamers scoff at mobile gaming (what, no physical controls?), there was a very serious gaming industry building around smartphones and tablets. Gaming is at last generation console levels in some cases, but it seems at some point the mobile gaming industry took a left turn to crowd pleasing territory. This is best summed up by the new Asphalt game, a title that comes from one of the best racing game series on mobile.

Of course, it was not 100% whether the mock-up was the finished article, but today there seems to be some clearer confirmation.

Samsung says the Note Edge is a limited concept

Samsung is a company that does not innovate, or so we are told. I am hardly Samsung's biggest fan, but I call creating a whole new category (phablets) and pioneering such features as the S Pen stylus and the project YOUM bendy screen innovative. Take the Galaxy Note Edge for example, this is a device that is new, fresh, and has never been done before. That doesn't mean it is a success, but who says innovation needs to hit a home run; the device is cutting... ahem, edge and that should be applauded.

Samsung has faced some tough times of late, an interesting thing considering this is a company that still makes billions of dollars and is still comfortably the number one smartphone vendor. The fact is though the future is not as smooth as it once was and there are plenty of unanswered questions within Samsung?s Korean HQ. When one of your own divisions explains that things are not going very well then it is probably time to start finding new ways to do things.

Boost and Virgin Mobile confirm the HTC Desire 510

Sprint said last week that it would be carrying HTC's budget Desire 510 handset, but it was also revealed it would be arriving on the Boost and Virgin Mobile networks. Samsung rolling out the Galaxy Note 4 to 140 countries by October

There's plenty of heat surrounding the Galaxy Note 4 at the moment. Yesterday we saw reports that Samsung was running scared of Apple and would launch the device early in its Korean homeland, and then we found that the device had in fact sold out of its pre-order run in the country. My own Samsung source said that the company's roll-out timetable for the Note 4 is continuing as scheduled and that the giant had long planned for Apple's impact.

Samsung's smartwatch line up is getting plenty confusing. There are now six Galaxy Gear wearable products available and the company is rolling out the latest, the Gear S, during this fall. If you are not sure which smartwatch the Gear S is then let me explain that it's the one the company launched at IFA a few weeks ago, the one that allows the user to make and receive calls without a smartphone connection.
