HTC DROID DNA updating to Android 4.4 today

Verizon and HTC have begun updating the DROID DNA to Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5. Though some DROID DNA owners initially feared that they might be left out of the code from the KitKat update, the phone is receiving the latest version of Android as well as new enhancements in Sense UI.

Hulu Plus turns Android and iOS apps into remote controls for PS3, PS4, and Xbox One

Verizon Wireless raises smartphone base to 72 percent and adds 550,000 customers in Q1 2014

Verizon Wireless today released its earnings report for the first quarter of 2014. In the three-month period ending in March, the wireless operator added 549,000 net subscribers, raising its total customer base to 103.3 million. About 97.3 million of those customers are on postpaid contracts. Verizon also continued its trend of converting customers to smartphones thanks to releasing more devices like the Nokia Lumia Icon and the HTC One M8. Of the 103 million customers, 72 percent of accounts are using a smartphone.

Motorola shipped 6.5 million devices in Q1 2014

Motorola's performance in the first three months of 2014 wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great. The company reported via a tweet that it shipped 6.5 million devices across the globe in the first quarter. Compared to the 10 million Samsung ships for its Galaxy Note 3- that's millions more for one phone, by the way - in only two months. However, Motorola had a respectable haul if one considers that Motorola has been on the decline in recent years. The Moto G did well, but clearly there's a lot of room for improvement once Lenovo takes over the company later this year.
