Sprint shareholders approve SoftBank acquisition

Sprint shareholders voted in favor of the $21.6 billion merger agreement reached with Japanese carrier SoftBank. Despite vocal opposition in the early days of the proposal and a counterbid by DISH that the carrier ultimately declined, Sprint shareholders approved SoftBank's purchase of nearly 80 percent of the company.

Samsung releases Jay-Z Magna Carta app ahead of free album giveaway

Samsung has released the Android app that will be used to distribute free copies of Jay-Z's soon-to-launch album Magna Carta Holy Grail. The app is available exclusively for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S III, and Galaxy Note II. Beginning July 4th, the first 1 million people to use the app to download will be able to download a free copy of Jay-Z's album. RadioShack offers HTC One buyers $100 Google Play credit for app and media purchases

Anyone considering purchasing an HTC One might want to head to RadioShack to make the purchase. RadioShack is hosting a temporary promotion that includes a $100 Google Play credit when signing up for a two-year agreement. The HTC One costs $149 on AT&T or Sprint, and buyers can use the $100 gift card to quickly fill their new phone with apps, games, books, and video purchases. The deal is available at participating RadioShack stores until June 30, 2013.

AT&T Pantech Flex upgrades to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

AT&T has begun updating the Pantech Flex to Android 4.1. The new software will deliver a number of Jelly Bean features, including Google Now enhanced search, accessibility options for the hearing or vision impaired, and expandable notifications. It also includes the addition of AT&T Drive Mode to discourage texting while driving, and minor adjustments to the option to switch between different user interfaces. Pantech Flex owners will begin seeing update notifications starting today, June 21.
