Lodsys now aiming its patent lawsuit gun at Android developers

Patent holding firm Lodsys, after filing lawsuits against iOS developers claiming patent infringement on in-app purchases, has now also filed lawsuits against Android developers for the same thing, if testimonies from certain developers are to be believed.

GroupMe 2.0 rolls out for BlackBerry users

GroupMe has rolled out an update to its BlackBerry app. The update offers users a new user interface as well as new features like in-app chatting, push notifications, and photo sharing. The free group text messaging app can be downloaded from BlackBerry App World now.

Video: Samsung Replenish (Sprint) unboxing and video tour

The Samsung Replenish is the first smartphone in Sprint's eco-focused line of phones. It is powered by a 600MHz processor and runs Android 2.2 Froyo with few customizations from Samsung and Sprint. There is a full QWERTY keyboard below a 2.8-inch, QVGA resolution touchscreen. The phone is manufactured from 82 percent recyclable materials and the box features recycled packaging as well.

iPad WatchESPN app now available

ESPN has announced a new release of its WatchESPN app for iPad users so sports fans everywhere can keep up with their favorite games and scores when away from their TVs. The app offers live sports streaming directly to the tablet and includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPNU coverage. Availability for the live video is determined by local TV providers and internet providers. Currently Verizon FiOS TV and its high speed internet are supported as well as Bright House Networks and Time Warner Cable. The app is available free in Apple's App Store or iTunes.

Nokia E6 QWERTY smartphone now available for pre-order in the UK

Nokia's full QWERTY touchscreen phone, the E6, is now available for pre-order in the UK. The smartphone runs on Nokia's newly announced Symbian Anna operating system and sports dual cameras. The E6 features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, and GPS. The phone's 1500mAh battery is expected to offer up to 7.5 hours of talk time or 31 days of standby. The Nokia E6 smartphone will be available the end of June for 349.00 GBP SIM free.

Samsung demands Apple hand over "iPhone 5" and "iPad 3" in court battle

As part of its ongoing "trade dress" battle with Apple over it's Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets, Samsung has filed a motion with the judge requesting that Apple turn over samples of its iPhone 5 and iPad 3 devices.

Motorola pushes out fix for ATRIX 4G security certificate issue

The latest update for Motorola's ATRIX 4G brought along the much needed ability to use the HSUPA radio for faster data speeds, but also unfortunately broke some banking apps that relied on older security certificates that were changed with the update. Users who are having trouble with their banking apps (American Express, Bank of America, Chase, and Discover apps were all known to have issues) can now download the ATRIX Certificate Updater in the Android Market to resolve the issue on their phones. The Certificate Updater will only work if the ATRIX is on the latest version of its software, 4.1.83. It's nice to see Motorola fix this issue in a relatively timely manner.

EA games for iOS and Android on sale for Memorial Day weekend

To celebrate the Memorial Day holiday, EA Games has put some of its most popular game titles for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets on sale. The list of titles on sale includes Madden NFL '11, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, The Sims 3, Tetris, and Scrabble - as well as many more. The sale should be running through Monday, so head on over to the iTunes App Store or the Android Market and grab some EA titles on the cheap.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Android Honeycomb tablet appears on FCC site

Samsung's newer, and smaller, Galaxy Tab 8.9 Android tablet has shown up on the FCC site recently. The Tab 8.9 features a super slim profile, a dual-core processor, and new TouchWiz user interface extensions that Samsung has layered on top of Android 3.1 Honeycomb. The super light tablet also sports dual cameras, 1GB of RAM, and will be offered in two variants; 16GB for $469 and 32GB for $569. After many delays, Sony Ericsson's PlayStation certified gaming phone, the Xperia PLAY, is now available with O2. The phone comes in either black or white and is free on 37 GBP or higher pay monthly plans or for 429.99 GBP on pay&go plans. The PLAY runs on Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and offers a large 4-inch touchscreen as well as a full gamepad controller. Apple iPhone 4 now on sale in India

Indian mobile carrier Bharti Airtel, along with its smaller Indian rival Aircel, are now offering Apple's iPhone 4 on their respective networks. The 16GB uberphone is being offered by Aircel for 34,500 INR ($763) and 40,900 INR for the 32GB variant. India is the fastest-growing market for mobile phone services, and is currently the second-largest overall (China is number one), with almost 800 million mobile subscribers.
