Amazon App Sale Continues, $110 worth of Apps for Free

Yesterday the company slashed the price on a number of apps and it was a one day deal. LG G Flex 2 could be a Flagship Beast

Qualcomm has already very briefly teased the new LG G Flex curved screen smartphone. The chip makers teased the device for CES next week and claimed it will be rocking the now ageing Snapdragon 800 processor. However, according to reports today the device will actually go all out and be a flagship.

64GB Moto X Pure Edition Now Available Confirms Motorola

Motorola left it late in the year, but on New Year's Eve the company tweeted that it has now included a 64GB variant of its Moto X Pure Edition flagship. It's a welcome addition to the Moto X line up for sure, especially when one considers that Motorola's core device does not actually ship with a micro SD slot. That means expanding storage is out of the question, so adding some more native gigs is good news.

HTC 2015 Road Map "Best Ever"

HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager sent out a tweet today that said the company's 2015 roadmap of devices and launches would be its "best ever" and would come with "some huge surprises that will blow you away." Well, he would say that wouldn't he, but can HTC deliver?

Lumia 1335 Passes FCC with LTE-A and Single SIM

The Microsoft/Nokia Lumia 1330 looks like it is going to get a single SIM version soon after a device with the model number RM-1062 has been passed through the FCC. This is the Lumia 1335, and as is normally the case the plus 5 numbering usually means something with SIM card of LTE variations.

Samsung "Email" Claims Android 5.0 Lollipop for January

We'll chalk this one off as dubious from the start. An apparent Samsung rep using Reddit leaked an email that confirms that early 2015 will be when Samsung pushes out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its core smartphones. The users who posted the email is apparently a Samsung rep and is verified by moderators on Reddit, neither of which actually mean a lot.

Amazon AppStore Giving Away 33 Free Apps

Amazon's AppStore is growing by huge amounts, and while it has nothing exclusive, it is really worth downloading it to your Android device as a companion to the Google Play Store. Not least because Amazon just keeps having sales, price reductions, and giveaways. Just a week after a free $220 amount of apps were made available, Amazon is back with a new deal.

We have heard plenty about Xiaomi's success in 2014, while other Chinese companies like Oppo and Meizu have also made their presence felt. Has that been to the detriment of traditional Chinese powerhouses such as ZTE and Huawei? According to the latter's financials the answer is no as once again it becomes apparent that in the huge Chinese market there could be room for everyone.

TSMC to Make Bulk of Apple's A9 Chips, not Samsung

It seemed as though Samsung would be returning to being Apple's biggest chip supplier in 2015 with the company hinting that it would take the bulk of orders for the A9 chip. However, despite talk that Samsung had already started production, a report in Taiwan is suggesting from suppliers that TSMC is actually going to have the bulk of manufacturing duties.

Xiaomi Mi5 Fingerprint Scanner to have iPhone Quality

Xiaomi's latest flagship, the Mi5, is just weeks from being launched and it will be rolling out with a premium design and some of the best specs that are currently available on the market. The handset has already had plenty of spec leaks and has even showed up in a photo. Now we are getting some details about one of the Mi5's (incidentally, it may be called the Mi4s) features, its fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, CES Bound?

January will be a busy month for Chinese company Xiaomi. The brand will launch a new flagship, the Mi5, a new update for the Redmi 1S, and the Redmi Note 2. At least one of those smartphones is apparently being launched at CES in Las Vegas, marking Xiaomi's first product launch outside of China. I hope that the company is planning on rolling out a device in the US, and I hope that device is the Redmi Note 2.

Onda iPad Air Copy comes with Android 4.4 and Windows 8.1

Apple's iPad Air 2 is the best tablet on the market, and no I am not an Apple die-hard in the slightest (as my Android smartphone will attest). However, the Air 2 sets the standard in terms of getting the most things right, but even this amazing slate is lacking something. It, and indeed a multitude of Android tablets cannot offer the kind of productivity offered by Windows 8.1 tablets that rock a full PC OS.
