Bump and Flock shutting down and deleting user data following Google acquisition

Google announced weeks ago that it had acquired Bump, the company that released an Android and iPhone app capable of sharing photos or contacts by tapping two phones together. Today, Bump has announced plans to officially shut down the product.

Moto X price drops permanently to $399 off-contract

Motorola and its carrier partners have lowered the price of the Moto X because of special promotions that began in November. Today the price drop becomes permanent thanks to Motorola's decision to lower the price to $399. From now on, all Moto X purchases at carriers or through MotoMaker.com will cost $399 without contract. The company is also offering an optional financing program on its website that will sell the phones for $0 down with payments spread out between 6, 12, or 18 months.

Apple's adoption rate for its most recent major release of iOS has climbed to a whopping 78 percent. Of the tens of millions of iPhones and iPads in the wild, the vast majority are running iOS 7. Apple reports that only 18 percent of devices use iOS 6; 4 percent use iOS 5 or an earlier version of the software.
