Amazon lowers prices on Kindle tablets to celebrate FAA ruling - one day only

The Federal Aviation Administration altered its guidelines last week to permit more use of electronic devices during flights, and Amazon has decided to host a one-day sale that lowers the price of the Kindle, Kindle Fire, and Kindle DX to celebrate. Amazon dropped the price of the Kindle to $59, the Fire HD to $118, and the Fire HDX to $195. Shoppers have until the end of today, November 4, 2013, to enter the code "ThnksFAA" (without quotes) to get 15 percent of Kindle purchases.

AT&T launching Samsung Galaxy S 4 Zoom November 8

BlackBerry deal is dead: CEO leaves and company gets $1 billion in new investment

The $4.7-billion deal that was to sell BlackBerry to a financial firm is no more. Instead of paying money to fully acquire the struggling manufacturer, Fairfax Financial Holdings and others will invest $1 billion and search for a permanent replacement for departing CEO Thorsten Heins.

AT&T wants to buy Vodafone in 2014, but it will face challenges

Motorola has released its camera app to Google Play, allowing Moto X users to gain faster access to camera updates. Motorola in recent weeks has been improving its Moto X camera through software updates applied through system updates for phones tied to carriers. By releasing the camera into Google Play, the company can more readily apply fixes and updates without the need to wait for carrier testing and approval. Leap stockholders agree to AT&T merger

Leap Wireless, the prepaid service provider that operates Cricket Wireless, has gained the approval of its shareholders to sell the company to AT&T. Leap reached a deal to sell to AT&T for $1.2 billion this summer, and 99 percent of its stockholders approved the sale today. The transaction still requires approval from the FCC and Department of Justice, which could arrive in 4 to 6 months. If approved, AT&T would gain Leap's wireless spectrum, 5 million customers, and 3,400 employees.
