Nokia C3 QWERTY feature phone headed to Vodafone U.K.

Today Vodafone U.K. announced that it will begin carrying the S40 powered Nokia C3 QWERTY feature phone in June for its pay as you go customers. The C3 has a 2 megapixel camera, can store up to 8GB microSD cards, and has a 2.4 inch display. The phone will be available in slate grey or hot pink and will be available with web plans that start at £7.50 ($11.39) per month. Vodafone U.K. has not yet said how much the phone will cost.

T-Mobile launches myTouch 3G Slide Android 2.1 QWERTY smartphone

Today T-Mobile announced the myTouch 3G Slide, an Android 2.1 powered device with 8GB of storage, a 5 megapixel camera, and a full QWERTY keyboard. The phone also comes with a few unique features that include the "Faves Gallery," "myModes," and a "Genius Button."

LG Ally QWERTY Android smartphone launching May 20th

LG today announced that its latest Android smartphone, the Ally, will launch on May 20th. While little was revealed about the phone today, including a price, carrier, or even images, LG is advertising the Ally on T.V. in some Iron Man 2 themed commercials.

Thumbplay music service now on Android

Today Thumbplay launched its Thumbplay Music application for Android. The software, available in the Android Market, provides access to millions of on-demand subscription music songs. Prior to today, the service was also available for BlackBerry phones, and Thumbplay says it will soon be available on the iPhone. The service comes with a three day trial but otherwise costs $9.99 per month.

Deutsche Telecom AG says it's still committed to T-Mobile USA

Today Deutsche Telecom AG's CEO Rene Obermann said during its annual shareholder meeting that Deutsche Telecom AG is still committed to T-Mobile USA. And despite admitting that he's not been "fully satisfied," with the company's performance in the U.S., he said that "it is making us a great deal of money." In February rumors surfaced that Deutsche Telecom could be shopping for a buyer for T-Mobile USA, or may be preparing an IPO, but then in March the company said it had no plans to sell the carrier.

Palm Pixi Plus headed to Vodafone Spain on May 10th

Today Palm announced that the webOS powered Palm Pixi Plus smartphone will be available on Vodafone in Spain beginning on may 10th. The device will be available with the Palm Touchstone wireless charger as well as the Palm Pixi Artist series back covers. Pricing for the device has not yet been announced.

Apple: 1 million iPads sold in just 28 days

Today Apple announced today that it has sold its 1 millionth iPad, just 28 days after the product launched on April 3rd. Apple also said that users have downloaded over 12 million apps and over 1.5 million ebooks from the iBookstore. "Demand continues to exceed supply and we're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers," Apple's CEO Steve Jobs said.

Nokia launhches Ovi App Wizard beta

Nokia recently launched a new product called App Wizard Beta. The software allows you to create your own application for Nokia's Ovi Store in just a few minutes, and for free. It doesn't require programming skills, instead, you can create an application out of an RSS or Atom feed, allowing you to share your blog or website with the world.

Today Twitter launched its official Android client. The free software is now available in the Android Market and allows you to share status updates, websites, photos, videos, and your location. Twitter worked with the Android team directly on the application and says that this is "just the beginning." Twitter plans to enhance the way we read and share with Twitter on Android. Google: Don't use Google Maps while driving

Today Google posted a small bit on its mobile blog about the importance of driving safely. The company said, "With the exception of Google Maps Navigation, which is designed for hands-free use with a car dock, Google Mobile products are not intended to be used while you are driving. Hand your phone to a passenger or park your car in a safe place if you need to search for a restaurant or check your email while behind the wheel." The message was part of a collaboration with many companies to raise the awareness of driving safely.

Apple surpasses Motorola as #1 U.S. phone maker

Apple has surpassed Motorola as the number one U.S. phone maker, Forbes is reporting. According to its Q1 2010 results, Apple sold 8.7 million iPhones in the United States. Motorola sold just 8.5 million phones during the quarter, including 2.3 million smartphones. Forbes also noted a compelling figure: 4 years ago Motorola sold 46.1 million phones during the first quarter, thanks to its popular Razr phone.

Apple iPad WiFi + 3G available today

The 3G flavor of Apple's iPad is available today, April 30th. The device should be on shelves in-stores by 5pm and those who pre-ordered it should be receiving them today. The 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, retail for $629, $729, and $829, respectively. Orders placed online today are expected to ship by May 7th. The device runs on AT&T's 3G network.
